Radio host Alex Jones is calling on all activists worldwide to descend on the site of the 2011 Bilderberg conference in St. Moritz, Switzerland and stage a massive protest against the criminal global elite that have wrecked the global economy, plunged the United States into another unaffordable war in Libya and are now scheming to start yet another war and hike oil prices to levels where Americans will be paying $7 dollars a gallon for gas.

As the 2011 Bilderberg meeting kicks off in St. Moritz Switzerland, syndicated radio host Alex Jones has called for activists the world over to descend on the luxury Suvretta House hotel this Saturday at 12 noon local time to protest the secretive global confab.
As the Bilderberg group operates behind closed doors and under Chatham House rules, it attracts very little mainstream media attention, despite the fact that hundreds of the worlds most important CEOs, banking elites, politicians and influential media figures annually attend to discuss policy.

This song title is a reference to a concept created by a think-tank called The Club of Rome. In One Hundred Pages for the Future, Italian scholar & industrialist, and co-Founder of the Globalist “think-tank” The Club of Rome, Aurelio Peccei, wrote:
“Along with the concept of the limits to growth, The Club of Rome had proposed that of the world problematique. For there exists in the world a dreadful mixture of problems, whose roots and ramifications we have not managed to grasp, and from which humanity cannot escape.”
Consider the lyric from the song, “Why can’t we see, that when we bleed we bleed the same?” when reading this exert from Peccei’s book:

In addition to this, the opening lyric, “Fear and panic in the air,” while setting the tone for the “Problematique,” may also be a reference to Mars, in that the red planet’s two moons are named Phobos and Deimos, who were the Greek gods of Fear and Panic. Such a connection would fit in with numerous references to Mars in the album, including the album cover.The song is also as the trailer for the 2006 apocalyptic film Children of Men.

Trades Hall president Kevin Bracken calls 9/11 ‘conspiracy’

Kevin Bracken, the president of the Victorian Trades Hall and secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia, sparked anger this morning after claiming the attacks were not the result of terrorist activity.
“I believe the official story is a conspiracy theory that doesn’t stand up to scientific scrutiny,” Mr Bracken told ABC talk-back host Jon Faine.
“In my mind the buildings were imploded.”

“I challenge you to a public debate,” Mr Bracken said.
“Aviation fuel doesn’t get hot enough to melt steel and no high rise steel frame building before or after September 11 has ever collapsed due to fire.
“I stick to scientific fact.”

This is not the first time Mr Bracken has voiced his controversial opinions on the attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon.
In 2006 he told The Australian he believed the attacks only worked because the American government was in some way involved.
“If they want to stop terrorism they’ve got to look at who was really behind September 11,” Mr Bracken said at the time.
“It couldn’t have happened unless there was participation from key elements of the American military and government and security services. I am not saying the whole lot were involved. But I believe the official story for September 11 doesn’t stack up.”
Mr Bracken said in 2006 his views on the terror laws and September 11 were his own, and he was not speaking on behalf of the union.
JULIA Gillard has dismissed as “stupid and wrong” a senior union official’s belief that the 9/11 attacks were a conspiracy but has refused to discipline him.

The Opposition opened parliamentary question time on the matter today, with Victorian MP Josh Frydenberg asking the Prime Minister what action she would take against Mr Bracken “to send a message that such remarks are unacceptable”.
“Obviously I don’t agree with the remarks, obviously they are stupid and wrong,” Ms Gillard said.
KEVIN Bracken is a genuine bit-player in Australian politics, as president of the Victorian Trades Hall Council and a Labor Party member of the inner city Port Melbourne branch.
But yesterday he was propelled on to the centre stage of national debate when the Coalition used him to kick off the daily Question Time ritual in Federal Parliament.
Josh Frydenberg, a former Howard government senior staffer, is a Liberal Party politician to watch – smart, savvy and he can carry an argument.
He was let down by his own leadership when the tactics group, which plans the Question Time attack, handed him a piddling question to ask Prime Minister Julia Gillard. Frydenberg referred her to a comment from Bracken about the al-Qa’ida attack on the World Trade Centre which he said was a US Government hoax.
Frydenberg wanted Gillard to discipline him and “send a message to others that such remarks are unacceptable”.

Gillard brushed the question away, saying the Labor Party was a big organisation which included people who said things that were “stupid and wrong”.
The Prime Minister finished by telling Tony Abbott that if he wanted to set a precedent under which members were expelled for saying stupid things, she could whip up a long list of qualified Liberals in quick time.
This question betrays the lack of real tactical focus by the Opposition.
TO suggest that the al-Qaida terror attack on the World Trade Centre towers on September 11, 2001 was actually a US conspiracy is nothing short of appalling.
Even worse is the fact that the person publicly spruiking the theory yesterday was Kevin Bracken, president of the Victorian Trades Hall as well as the secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia. He claimed the buildings were “imploded”.
Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard reacted appropriately in question time yesterday when asked about the inflammatory comments by the senior trade union office bearer. She replied that the remarks were “stupid and wrong”.
There were several angry responses from callers after Mr Bracken rang Jon Faine to air his opinions yesterday.
Back in 2006, Mr Bracken said the attacks “couldn’t have happened unless there was participation from key elements of the American military and government and security services”.
He declared: “I believe the official story for September 11 doesn’t stack up.” At the time, he emphasised that these were his personal views and that he was not speaking on behalf of the union members he represented.
But whether Mr Bracken realises it or not, the 3000 people who perished in the World Trade Centre buildings were workers, just like the very people he represents.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister distanced herself from Mr Bracken. “Obviously I don’t agree with the remarks, obviously they are stupid and wrong,” Ms Gillard said. “The Labor Party is a large organisation, people join it as individuals … we don’t dictate what people think.”
Thankfully, Mr Bracken’s extreme views are not shared by Trades Hall secretary Brian Boyd, who said: “It was a terrorist attack, and we condemn it.”

Kevin Bracken, the senior Victorian unionist who claims that the 2001 World Trade Center collapse was not caused by terrorists, called talkback again today to demand a right of reply.
Kevin Bracken made it clear that this time he was calling as a private individual, not as President of the Trades Hall Council and Secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia.
Yesterday Kevin Bracken called Jon Faine’s Mornings program claiming the official story of the 9/11 attacks ‘doesn’t stand up to scientific scrutiny’.
His comments attracted worldwide attention and earned rebuke from Prime Minister Gillard and the Secretary of the Trades Hall Council.
Today he attacked Jon Faine himself for dismissing his claims out-of-hand.
“Unfortunately cowards like yourself have set the political agenda in this country for too long,” said Kevin Bracken
He called Jon Faine a bully and challenged him to a debate on the issue.
Jon Faine refused the debate.
Kevin Bracken’s initial call was in response to the Parliamentary debate on the Afghanistan war.
“What we should be doing is calling for a proper investigation into the events of September 11,” says Kevin Bracken.
“I believe that the official story is a conspiracy theory, that doesn’t stand up to scientific scrutiny,” he says.
His comments were brought up in Federal Parliament during Question Time where the Prime Minister called them ‘stupid and wrong’.

In Victoria, Shadow Attorney General Robert Clarke said Mr Bracken’s comments were a direct insult to Australian soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
“It strikes at the very heart of the West’s struggle against terrorism and it is a disgrace that while Australian soldiers are serving and dying in Afghanistan that Mr Bracken make these wild claims that undermine the very reason for their presence in Afghanistan,” he said.
Mr Clarke called on Premier John Brumby to condemn these comments in the strongest possible terms and for the outspoken union leader to be disciplined.
“The Trades Hall Council needs to consider Mr Bracken’s future as its president and the MUA needs to consider his future as their secretary,” he said.
“These comments can’t stand they need to be condemned in the strongest possible terms.”
Trades Hall secretary Brian Boyd said Mr Bracken did not speak on behalf of the organisation.
“The official Trades Hall position is not to entertain that theory,” Mr Boyd said.
“We had almost 3000 working people killed in that terrorist attack. It was a terrorist attack, and we condemn it.”
Mr Boyd said Mr Bracken’s views had caused many debates behind the walls of Trade Hall.
“He is welcome to his views and we’ve discussed his theories,” he said.
“But I totally disagree.”
Mr Boyd said he stood by his colleague despite his extremist views.
“99 per cent of the time Kevin’s a very good president,” he said.
MUA national secretary Paddy Crumlin distanced the union from the comment, releasing a statement saying its position on the attack was “unambiguous”.
“The 9/11 tragedy was a result of a terrorist attack by international terrorists who claimed responsibility,” he said.
“It is the MUA’s position – one that I passionately support as national secretary – that this attack is one of the greatest affronts and abuses of human and civil rights in contemporary history.”
On the 28th of March, 2008, the Victorian Trades Hall Council passed this motion after lengthy debate supporting a thorough and independent inquiry of the terrorist attacks on 9/11. From the minutes of the meeting on the 28th of March 2008;
“That this meeting of VTHC Executive Council calls for a thorough, independent enquiry into the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11.
The events of that day have been used to start pre-emptive wars “that will not end in our lifetime”. They have been used to attack civil liberties and legal principles that have been the cornerstone of civilized communities.
There is an urgent need to reassess the way we view the world after September 11 and we call for proper investigation into the events around that day.”

Visibility 9-11 Welcomes Australian Union President, Kevin Bracken – A True Working Class Hero!
To many the name Kevin Bracken is a new one in regards 9/11 Truth. The reality is that Kevin has been a champion of the 9/11 Truth cause since 2006 by disseminating information throughout the Victorian Union Movement and the Maritime Workers Union of Australia. He has distributed DVD’s, shown films and shared information regularly with his associates and the people of Melbourne and he achieved motions calling for a new investigation from both the Victorian Trades Hall Council where he is the President and the Victorian branch of the Maritime Union of Australia of which he heads as Secretary. Kevin has also attended numerous conferences on 9/11 and has been the facilitator of such in Melbourne, Australia. Over the years Kevin and I have developed a close working relationship, both striving for the truth 9/11 to come out to bring end to the wars and to get our rights back that have been eroded since 9/11!
This is the motion passed on the 28th of March of 2008 at the VTHC;

On the 20th of October 2010 Kevin was asked to ring into ABC 774 Mornings with John Faine although Faine disputes this. This was following an email that was sent to Faine by Kevin questioning 9/11 in the context of Australia’s ongoing support of the Afghanistan occupation. After the recent Australian Election it was demanded by the Australian Greens in a “balance of power” deal that the Australian involvement in the Afghan War be debated in parliament in it’s first sitting. This debate had been going on this week and it was the first time any such debate had happened since 9/11, which is simply outrageous.
This interview by Faine was possibly the most biased ever heard in Australia on radio broadcast by the tax payer funded Australian Broadcasting Corporation. This attack by Faine of Bracken’s questioning the 9/11 events included a torrent of ad hominem slurs and an absolute refusal to discuss any evidence that the events were anything but what we have been told by our governments. A reasonable explanation of what happened and also with attached audio can be found here. This story titled “Trades Hall president Kevin Bracken Stands by his 9/11 Conspiracy” has been reported all around the world and included a poll which started off running at around 50/50 asking if Kevin’s questions about 9/11 were “reasonable” but has continued to move in his favour ending up at the time of writing these notes at 75% in favour of Bracken.
Kevin has received literally thousands of thank you’s from around the world for his brave stance for 9/11 Truth! Standing his ground even after being directly verbally bashed by the Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard saying he was “stupid and wrong” and having his own leadership comrades buckle at the knees if the face of unfounded ridicule. Rather than running for cover Kevin with his chin in the air has reiterated his position defying any to debate him on the issue! As usual all media presstitutes have refused, as there is obviously “no debate to have”. It seems that the vast majority of the public disagree and would like to see such a debate but none of the so called “journalists” dare to tread such a path.
Interesting to note that John Faine is now complaining that the ABC has been swamped by 9/11 activists and it may take the ABC many weeks to deal with the massive amount of complaints and comments they have received. Many of these I know to be formal as I have received many courtesy copies of the complaints to the ABC accusing them of breeching their charter and broadcast policy.
The battle for 9/11 Truth is far from over and as long as the fools in power maintain their policy of occupation of Afghanistan they will remain exposed and at risk of criminal prosecution due to the lies of 9/11. Lets hope it comes soon or they realize and stop the bloodshed.

With reference to Geoffrey Thomas’ report (Searches go too far: airline staff, 13/10), as a captain with a local airline I am also subjected to security screening on a daily basis at the Perth dometic terminal and at times question the effectiveness and relevance of the current system.
One issue comes to mind. As pilots we are already security checked, like all airside workers, and display the required security pass for tarmac acess. However, we are the only people to have full access to the flight deck airborne and, more importantly, have a vested interest in the aeroplane’s safety and security.
With this in mind, I have lost count of the number of times – while in uniform – my umbrella or shoes are picked up as a threat to the aeroplane, all the while catering trucks, cleaners, and baggage handlers to mention a few, are free to access all areas unsupervised and unchecked.
On rare occasions I’ll challenge the security staff to explain why either item is a threat. Their response is always: “You may have hidden a knife.” My response is: “What would I do with a knife?”
They reply: “You may use it to take control of the aeroplane.” Then I remind them: “I already have control of the aeroplane!” Blank looks follow because the regulations don’t allow common sense.
The inconsistency is frustrating at best and political smoke and mirrors at worse. I think our airport security legislation and regulations were hastily implemented and our elected repesentatives are treading a slippery slope, restricting liberties for the appearance of security.
I have to wonder what’s next as the naked security scanners roll out next year.

A new website [1] has been launched in Devon, UK allowing members of the public to monitor CCTV camera footage from around Britain [2], forcing people to decide whether the Orwellian measure to prevent crime is correct, or another pointless excuse to cull more civil liberties. Internet Eyes [1] employs people from around the UK as well as Australians [3] and Europeans to spy on other members of the public from their own homes in a supposed effort to prevent criminal acts. This month they launched their business sparking mixed reaction around the world. [4]
The Internet Eyes system works by a viewer watching four screens at once and pressing a “REPORT” button [6] The alert triggers an SMS to the shop assistant or owner who makes a decision about what action to take. The viewer then receives a reward.

If this is a legitimate business, where does that leave the general public? On the company’s Facebook page, there seems to be very strong feelings coming from both sides. [7] Some feel it is an invasion of privacy, allowing strangers to watch them go about their business. Others have said it is a good idea and will create jobs and prevent crime.
Internet Eyes had previously mentioned that its viewers are paid £1000 (approx. $1700 AUD) to watch the footage coming from cameras already mounted on streets and in stores. Managing director Tony Morgan claims, “The whole point of this is that it is a deterrent. People watch Crimewatch and that’s not entertainment. We just want it to help people out.” [2]
However, on the SpyBlog website [8] they report, “Contrary to most of the media and blog headlines about this scheme, which falsely report that the public is somehow going to be paid to watch these CCTV feeds, it turns out that Internet Eyes are not actually planning to pay people to snoop at all. Instead they are only offering them the vague hope of winning a monthly prize.” [4] It goes on further to discuss the amount of details one needs to part with in order to sign up to be a viewer and also mentions the lack of security on the site to ensure personal details will not be stolen.
No CCTV [9] and Privacy International [10] have also stepped up to say that Internet Eyes is a money making scheme. No CCTV’s Charles Farrier has said it is a profit making scam and he feared that people would exploit the opportunity to watch others, saving the footage to upload it to file sharing websites. He says, “There are not enough checks and balances in place. We will be looking for instances where they may potentially breach the data protection act.” and went on to add that, “This is encouraging a growing trend of citizen spies. If people are so concerned about crime, they should contact the police. They are hiding behind computer screens and willing crime to happen so they get a prize. It is a game.” [2]
Internet Eyes, and its concept to have members of the UK public spying on each other – whether a legitimate business or a scam – preys on one’s desire to be a hero and make a positive difference while acclimating them to sell out society’s civil liberties and their own privacy. In this period of time, where citizens are clinging to a dwindling amount rights in the face of a growing amount of convienent excuses being used by authorities to highten security by filming, searching and fingerprinting citizens at every turn, we must take a stand against and become aware of this descent into a 1984-like reality. It is a story the corporate media, with the notable exception of one lone Fox News affiliate, refuses to report. A former FBI agent, Don Adams, has compelling evidence Lee Harvey Oswald did not assassinate president John F. Kennedy. Adams was assigned to an FBI office in Thomasville, Georgia, on November 22, 1963. Adams was responsible for investigating Joseph Adams Milteer, described as a radical with connections to the States Rights Party and KKK. Milteer, according to Adams, was involved in Kennedy’s assassination.
As revealed by the Church Committee in the mid-70s and according to internal FBI documents the agency controlled the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacists beginning in the 1960s. More recently, it was revealed that racist radio talk show host Hal Turner operated as a “national security intelligence” asset for the FBI, thus demonstrating the agency still has its hooks in the lunatic fringe movement.
The racist Milteer “was reportedly one of most violent men in the country,” Adams told Fox 8 News. Years later, Adams discovered that Milteer had threatened to kill Kennedy on November 9, 1963, and the FBI had lied about Milteer whereabouts. In order to make his case, Adams played an audio recording of Milteer for Fox News. In the recording, Milteer tells an informant the best way to get the president “is from an office building with a high powered rifle.” Asked if he was sincere about a plot of kill Kennedy, Milteer responded: “Oh yes. It’s in the works.”
Despite the threat and possibility of a conspiracy to assassinate the president, the FBI and Secret Service allowed Kennedy to travel to Dallas. “[They] should have stopped the President from traveling instantly,” said Adams.
“You thought I was kidding when I said he would be killed from a window with a high powered rifle,” a “jubilant” Milteer” told the informant following the murder.
Adams points out that Milteer was in Dallas on the day of the assassination and has a photograph to prove it. In the photo, Milteer stands near the presidential limousine prior to the shooting. Adams notes this fact was not mentioned in the Warren Commission report.
Other, more well-known personages were also photographed in Dealy Plaza on that fateful day, in particular George Bush Senior. The future CIA director and president was photographed standing outside the Texas Book Depository building where it was said Oswald single-handedly shot the president from the sixth floor. Gerald Ford appointed Bush to head-up the agency when the House Select Committee on Assassinations was investigating CIA-FBI links to the murders of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy.
During Gerald Ford’s funeral in 2007, the elder Bush attacked theories straying from the official version. “After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy, our nation turned to Gerald Ford and a select handful of others to make sense of that madness,” said Bush. “And the conspiracy theorists can say what they will, but the Warren Commission report will always have the final definitive say on this tragic matter. Why? Because Jerry Ford put his name on it and Jerry Ford’s word was always good.”
After Adams told the FBI he believed it was impossible for Oswald to have fired three shots with a bolt-action rifle in seven-and-a-half seconds while taking aim through a scope, he was warned by his superiors not to pursue his findings. “Don, be careful what you say and how you say it,” an agent told him.
Mr. Adams’ assertions contribute to a huge body of evidence revealing that Kennedy was not murdered by Oswald in the fashion described by the government.
In 2007, a study conducted by a former FBI scientist put to rest the Oswald-as-lone-gunman theory. William A. Tobin, a former FBI lab metallurgist, and colleagues published a study the Annals of Applied Statistics demonstrating that at least one other shooter was involved in the assassination.
Also in 2007, former CIA agent and Watergate conspirator E. Howard Hunt admitted in an audio recording that he was approached to be part of a CIA assassination team to kill JFK. The tape was released by the late Hunt’s son, Saint John Hunt, and aired on the Coast to Coast radio show in April, 2007.
“E. Howard Hunt names numerous individuals with both direct and indirect CIA connections as having played a role in the assassination of Kennedy, while describing himself as a ‘bench warmer’ in the plot. Saint John Hunt agreed that the use of this term indicates that Hunt was willing to play a larger role in the murder conspiracy had he been required,” writes Paul Joseph Watson.
Saint John Hunt said that his father indeed resembled one of three “bums” arrested and photographed in Dealy Plaza following the assassination. The elder Hunt told his son he was “deeply conflicted and deeply remorseful” that he didn’t blow the whistle on the plot at the time and prevent the assassination. At the time Kennedy was hated by many government officials, especially officials at the CIA. Following the disastrous Bay of Pigs operation and his failure to support military action in Cuba, Kennedy had promised to “shatter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter the remnants to the wind.”
Kennedy’s enemies in the CIA and the FBI are well documented. He fired the Chief Executive of the CIA, Charles Cabell, and among his enemies were Richard Helms, former CIA director Allen Dulles, and Gerald Ford, who would later become the default president of the United States.
In May of 2007, Saint John Hunt went on the Alex Jones Show and revealed that his father would have “finish[ed] the job” and killed Teddy Kennedy. “In the context that JFK had already been removed, RFK was gone and his motto was ‘let’s finish the job,’” Hunt told Jones. He said his father was pleased when Robert Kennedy was assassinated.
In 2008, the BBC aired a documentary offering evidence that the CIA was responsible for Robert Kennedy’s assassination. Three men were positively identified as senior officers who worked together in 1963 at JMWAVE, the CIA’s Miami base for its Secret War on Castro. “I was in Dallas when we got the son of a bitch and I was in Los Angeles when we got the little bastard,” David Sanchez Morales, aka “El Indio,” who was involved in CIA efforts against Castro and the CIA’s 1954 overthrow of the Guatemalan government, reportedly bragged after the RFK assassination.
In his audio confession, the late E. Howard Hunt said Morales and Lyndon Johnson were involved in the plot to kill JFK. Hunt said the code name for the assassination operation was “The Big Event.”
Johnson’s former mistress, Madeleine Duncan Brown, told author Robert Gaylon Ross prior to her death in 2002 that Johnson was involved in the murder, a plot that had its origins in the 1960 Democratic Convention, where John F. Kennedy was elected as presidential candidate with Johnson as his running mate. Johnson, according to Brown, colluded with oil tycoon H. L. Hunt to have Kennedy eliminated. “It was a total political crime and H.L. Hunt really controlled what actually happened to John Kennedy — he and Lyndon Johnson,” said Brown. “It was a political crime for political power.” Johnson had allegedly said on the night before the assassination: “Those SOBs will never embarrass me again.”
A preponderance of evidence points to government involvement in the Kennedy assassination. However, due to the intelligence practice of compartmentalization — and the murder and disappearance of key witnesses — we will probably never know the exact details of how the government killed not only John F. Kennedy, but also his brother Robert and the civil rights leader Martin Luther King.

Lawyers for the city and for 10,000 plus plaintiffs, i.e. the cleanup and rescue men and women who worked Ground zero, announced on June 10, 2010 that they had negotiated a new settlement, providing more compensation for health damages and to lower legal fees for services, down from 33.33 percent to a maximum of 25 percent, as per the New York Times, one quarter of the awards still a healthy handful, about $178.5 million.
Judge Hellerstein, who had rejected payouts between $575 to 657.5 million as settlement in March as too little, is now accepting $712.5 million. Okay, if you have a calculator that comes to $37 million more. Divided by 10,000 workers, that yields $3700 more per person. The average, per capita award comes to $71,250. Of course, each worker’s actual award would be determined by the extent of his or her illness, medical and prescription fees, and I would imagine family size. I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but would each award be better “enough” for each worker? Well, each worker will have to decide that by September 30, 2010. 95 percent agreement is required for benefits to begin.
By comparison, the Victim’s Compensation Fund, whose awards went to family members of 2800 victims, ranged from $400,000 to $2 million for their lost loved one, a total of $7.049 billion dollars. The awards factored in whether the victim was married or not, with children or not, age, number of working years left, salary level, and so on.
It was a cold-hearted way perhaps to evaluate lost ones, but generous in comparison to the awards for lives lost or seriously affected in ‘the second round of slaughter’, those with chronic, life-threatening conditions. This is not to belittle the 9/11 victims’ families for their awards, or the sacrifice made by their loved ones lost, just to point out a disparity.
The man who ran the VCF, “Special Master” Kenneth Feinberg, originally appointed by former Department of Justice chief John Ashcroft, was on NY1 TV a couple days ago, telling the workers that if they accepted the deal, why he’d have checks in the mail in two weeks. By the way, the proviso for receiving any VCT award was promising not to sue the government, making it a kind of hush money.
Feinberg’s colleague Judge Hellerstein has seen to it that in all these years no family (to my knowledge to date) has received a trial, even if they didn’t want to take the money. Instead, victim families were encouraged “to move on” and stow the cash.
Mrs. Ellen Mariani, who wanted a trial for her husband Neil, lost on UA F 175, and who brought two suits against the government, had her suits dismissed because their trials she was told would “endanger national security,” which sounds more like an attempt to cover up any wrong doing on the government’s part. In fact, she’s still waiting a trial or financial reward. Both she and her lawyer are under gag orders not to speak. Remember her if you will in your prayers if nothing else.
Also, the Airline Transportation Safety Act (ATSA) actually paid out a total of $15 billion to the airlines in loans and cash for losses sustained in their businesses, though the airline bigs we know will never go hungry. Not like working people with more bills than they have assets.
Unfortunately, the GZ workers, these men, these women, who worked in the pit, et al, had to sue the city and its contractors six years ago for the grave illnesses they had suffered, including cancers, respiratory and glandular diseases. These were a result, in part, of not having been given respirators to protect them against the deadly chemicals in the air, earth and debris, nor having proper supervision about protecting themselves. They were walking around with or without paper nose-mouth masks.
One major reason for that was that both the EPA and FEMA had said that the Ground Zero site and surrounding environment they were working in was safe, when in fact it was loaded with a cocktail of deadly chemicals, as follows…
“Over 400 tons of asbestos, which once inhaled in any quantity cannot be expelled by the lungs
“90,000 liters of jet fuel containing benzene, a carcinogen that suppresses the immune system and causes leukemia
“Mercury from over 500,000 fluorescent lights that is toxic to the nervous system, and damaging especially to the kidneys
“200,000 pounds of lead and cadmium from personal computers, toxic to the respiratory track, especially damaging to kidneys
“Polycystic aromatic hydrocarbons that cause lung, laryngeal and throat cancers
“130,000 gallons of transformer oil with PCBs, causing serious skin rashes and liver damage
“Crystalline Silica from 420,000 tons of concrete, sheetrock and glass (tiny particulates that lodge in heart, causing ischemic heart disease),” and so on…
The facts and more come from film-maker Heidi Dehncke-Fisher’s landmark documentary Dust to Dust: the health effects of 9/11. I reviewed this affecting, truth-telling film in a piece called 911’s second round of slaughter. And that’s exactly what it was.
To follow the lives of EMS workers, firemen, police, volunteers, as Dehncke does, to see the slow ebbing of strength and will to live in fearless men and women, to see them morph into weary, despairing people, fighting with insurance companies for monies for life-sustaining medications and/or hospital care, is heart-breaking. Consider that for the survivors to this date. They still face on-going, life-threatening conditions, with new symptoms surfacing from time to time.
For instance, the Philadelphia Inquirer recently ran a story, 9/11 responders now suffering loss of smell. Its subhead read, “Chronic condition represents a ‘breakdown in the body’s defense against toxic substances’”
It told about paramedic “Mike Greene, who at first thought it might just be a bad allergy.
“But when his sense of smell didn’t come back for months, the paramedic suspected it was caused by polluted air he’d breathed at the most harrowing job site of his career: the wreckage of the World Trade Center.
“Turns out he is not alone.
“A significant portion of those on duty at the twin towers suffered long-term damage to their sense of smell and their ability to detect harmful irritants through the nose, Philadelphia researchers reported in a new study last week.
“Far from being just an inconvenience, this chronic condition represents a breakdown in the body’s defense against toxic substances, said lead author Pamela Dalton, an experimental psychologist at the Monell Chemical Senses Center.
“In a sample of 102 workers in construction, emergency services, and other fields, 22 percent had an impaired sense of smell more than two years after exposure at the twin towers site, and 74 percent had a reduced ability to detect irritants. That ability is separate from the sense of smell, and is illustrated by the burning sensation you get from say, the noxious fumes in a bottle of bleach.”
Now this is going on nine years later. What does tomorrow bring for these men and women who gave selflessly, working under furious pressure from Mayor Rudy Giuliani to work night and day to get what was America’s worst ever crime scene scrubbed clean in eight months, not the two and a half years he had to do it. And to help America’s mayor get his brownie points for destroying the evidence, and in the process helping to destroy the lives and health of these heroes.
Another recent loss: On May 15, 2010, Robert Oswain of the New York Police Department died from cancer, after serving in recovery efforts at the wrecked World Trade Center. If you want a taste of it, read Christopher Bollyn’s powerful article complete with photographs of what Robert and his 10,000 brothers and sisters went through.
The opening paragraphs tell us, “Robert Oswain, a police officer with the New York Police Department (NYPD), died from cancer on May 15, 2010. Oswain, a Bronx cop who served in recovery efforts at the destroyed World Trade Center, died of cancer late Saturday. He was 42 years old.
“Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly commended Oswain, who had recently married, for his ‘valiant struggle’ against the disease. Oswain’s family and NYPD brothers believe Ground Zero’s toxic dust caused the cancer that claimed his life, the Daily News reported.
“Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (NYC PBA) President Patrick Lynch called Oswain ‘one of the forgotten heroes of 9/11’ – and warned that the true cost in lives from the attacks won’t be known for decades. The NYC PBA has a webpage devoted to Oswain in which he described what he did at the World Trade Center in the aftermath…” Check out this story for a bitter taste of what it was really like.
Bottom line, brothers, sisters, you who have suffered and suffer still, I ask you to think clearly if this settlement is what you want, if it truly protects you, and if this is what you and your families can live with? Because once you sign on the dotted line, it’s over.
What’s more, as mentioned earlier, 95 percent of you have to approve this offerby September 30 for it to take effect. I’m not saying do or don’t sign. I’m saying think it out clearly. Don’t be pressured. Stick together. Remember your lawyers are still getting a healthy cut. Search you conscience and make up your own mind what’s best for you. Good luck, bless you all.
